Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Data Engineering to lead our data engineering team. The Director of Data Engineering will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and managing data pipelines, databases, and analytics infrastructure to support our media measurement and analytics platform. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, cloud computing, and team leadership, with a passion for leveraging data to drive positive social change.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage data engineering tasks, including the design, implementation, and maintenance of data pipelines, databases, and analytics infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data science, product management, and client services, to understand business requirements and develop data solutions to meet those needs.
  • Design and architect scalable and reliable data pipelines to ingest, process, and analyze large volumes of structured and unstructured data from diverse sources.
  • Implement best practices for data governance, data quality, and data security to ensure the integrity and reliability of our data assets.
  • Work closely with data scientists and analysts to develop and deploy machine learning models and advanced analytics solutions.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in data engineering, cloud computing, and analytics, and identify opportunities to incorporate new tools and techniques into our platform.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, with a proven track record of designing and implementing complex data solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and experience with data processing frameworks.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to mentor and inspire a team of data engineers.
  • Passion for leveraging data to drive positive social change and make a difference in the world.

Location: Remote 

Salary: Base up to $150,000/yr with benefits and equity options available.
